Hakkoda Japan Road Run
So so lucky to have our first day ever at Hokkada, with sunshine, a very rare occurrence. We decided on a north facing run down to the road, even tho we didn't have a car waiting... Apparently hitch hiking in Japan isn't too common. Dr Pow walked 7.5 km's in ski boots to find this out, thank you!
An amazing back country experience amongst the Hakkoda snow monsters. With a top shelf Sukayu Onsen to finish the day. Very Special.

The Brotherhood of E's middle aged Wanaka division took another outing on private and Doc land, on a thirsty Thursday, January, 22. Thanks to Mt Burke station for permission to ride, quite possibly Wanaka's best ride. Quick local ride, to test out the new 5.3k 50p Superview option from GoPro. This will be my new go to mountain biking chest mount set up, liking the wide 16mm and extra resolution squeezed onto a 4k timeline.

Go pro 10 reveals the hidden talents of ageing ski bums, now gang affiliated to the brotherhood of E. While ebiking is technically not allowed on conservation land, this is currently the subject of a review and we believe pedal assisted biking will be condoned in the future. Apologies to ...

Thx guys. Looks great. Can you ski all the way out ok or is there a little more shuffling at the bottom?
It was awhile ago now, but pretty sure you could ski back to the field without anymore skinning.
Hey guys, great video. Is this side country Kokusai or did you have to skin in. Love to know how to access this (especially the beginning bit of the video). thx
Hi Nigel, this is Kokusai side country accessed from the top of ski area, about a 20-30 min skin, skiers right. Ski back to field.
Love the graphics and quality. Well done!
Glad you like it!
human league? l like it.
❤ на Урале такие же виды 😊 так-же катаем))
Those trees! Cool edit.
very nice in a low tide season, those must be foam trees for no Helmets !
Sick edit Paul, really well put together. Couldn’t resist the tiny screen preview immediately but will plug it into a big monitor to share w Emma over our next Tokyo IPA 😉🙏⛩️🇯🇵
ur skiing dead fam
Hi, did you ski under the ropeway?
Stunning, gorgeous, the results of predator free.
Thanks for sharing your Paparoa ride. Our group of three 60+ guys from Central on Trek Rail7’s have just done it and were lucky enough to have a cloudless day like you. We needed an extra shared battery as our 625w was at the limit of their range. A great ride which we found required good bike handling skills and absolute focus on the track ahead. Certainly not for beginners!
Such a good edit. Loved the simplicity and skiing in the video. Where in TC is this?
Awesome!!
Thank you! Cheers!
t best one-dayer , love t tops scenery + not having to fluff around w a bed. nice share
Glad you enjoyed
Beautiful birds. :)
I think so too!
Fuck yes
Hi Nic, Ol Ghost is considerably further than Paporoa, I don't believe it would be possible on one 500w battery. We used two 630w, it took 10 hours including stops.
Hi Nic, battery is a Bosch 630w, with careful management Paporoa can be done on one battery, we all carried two, and used 1.3 batteries.
In Deutschland nie zu hören...
Nice ride. What size battery is your bike and did you have any battery left when finished?
Hi Nic, 630w battery and can be done with one, with care. Such a good ride, heading back to do it again!
Can I ask what size batteries you guys have? We’re you able to charge at all or did the whole trail in one go. I have a 2022 trek rail 5 with 504wh battery and curious if that would make it. Of course has to be in eco mode. Only have the one battery so need to charge if possible if using tour or higher mode. Thank you for any info.
kewl vid Uncle Porl!
Hi, thanks for your comment. Some top Kiwis from Christchurch, doing great work in LA. Truth - Pages, from the Excellent, Acceptance album.
Damn, dude. Track name? I love oldschool-influenced dubstep/future bass stuff.
Awesome cool 🆒️😎👍
شكرا لك
How did you know it was the 3rd link for the rear tension?
Hi Andy, this depends on the exact size of the tyre. The tighter the better, obviously. If you cannot link the front chain, you can try a looser fit on rear chain, or vice versa.

It would have been better if those fish were released quicker. Otherwise the video was enjoyable... nice fish, beautiful scenery, and a lovely river. Thanks for posting.
Still the first video I look up when i want ot remind myself of boarding in Niseko. This one just captures the vibe so well.
Thanks Stephen, what a great season that was! Here's another from 2 days later, it never stopped for 3 days and nights. 10 years ago ua-cam.com/video/yh6_NUjsQZE/v-deo.html
looks awesome!
Thanks Sesame 420.
Looks like an amazing track, where do you park? Seriously want to give this a try some day.
Hi Sesame, you can do a shorter ride up Grandview by parking at the Nook road and climbing up the DOC track. We gained permission from Lake Hawea station to come down through their land to Johns Creek. They call it home spur I think. A longer ride on Grandview can be accessed from Jolly road off the Luggate Tarras highway. Pick good weather!
Should not be handling fish with gloves on.
I think they have gloves with the palm exposed. I'll need to look for a pair.
This is what I call "music"
How do you find that brand of nectar feeders? Any good
Hi Michael, These feeders seem popular here, great for Tui's and Bellbirds. Smaller beaks, like wax eyes, struggle and prefer a bowl. ua-cam.com/video/x8F8g3X7K0U/v-deo.html
@@TheWanaka1 great thanks, mainly wax eyes here, about 3 bell bird sightings per year ☹
They’re Tui Nectar Feeders. Not the bird Tui, the gardening brand Tui.
@@KakarikiNZ Cheers mate!
@@michaelsumnerguitartuition7854 Took me 9 years after planting my mini beech/podocarp forest to attract my first Bellbird. This year I got my first Tui sighting! So far I have had wax eye, fantail, White Heron, Bellbird and finally Tui.
昔 20年くらい前にはハマっていっぱい聞きました 図書館でCD借りて来ていっぱいコピーしてもらい持っています 久しぶりにあの迫力に浸りましょうね いいね👍ポチッとです
You could work in TV! That panning job was really impressive. Great video
Thanks, I would love a job !
Footage looks great!
Thanks Stephen I Appreciate your comment.
かっこいい
Thanks Joni, we love Japan!
It would be good to see you do this on a normal 2WD road car without the clearance between the tyre and wheel arch. My 2014 Hyundai i30 has a suspension arm quite close to the road (easy to get hooked when trying to rotate chain) and limited space to get my hands in to join up the back link. I'll practice a few different techniques to find the best way, but I don't think it will be this one. Also need to park the vehicle with the joining links at the bottom before removing the chains.
Man, do I need to go back to NZ sometime after we (humans) have the virus under control. Tui and Bellbirds are among my favorite things I've ever seen/heard. Cheers and good health to you!
Gavan Borgias thank you did another Covid birds are free one here. Hope you make it back down under. ua-cam.com/video/su4rFqVUjaM/v-deo.html
